Sakura Season
Cherry blossoms in Tokyo
Spring is perhaps Japan’s most celebrated season. This largely has to do with the fact that sometime between March and April cherry blossoms manifest with a bang along every unassuming river. The trees are forgotten most of the year, then all of a sudden there’s a frenzy as people prance around with fervor bustling for front row promenades. Families go out for the day, friends drink and laugh, lovers link arms, and individuals steam up their cameras capturing the sensual pink. It’s quite loud for such gentle petals wafting on the wind; somewhat like cicadas who scream for their few weeks debut above ground. Still, it’s hard not to be swept up in the passionate affair after a cold winter.
